Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is toasting a double award win at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of the industry’s most prestigious spirits competitions.
Tamdhu Batch Strength, the most recent expression released by Tamdhu Distillery, scooped a Double Gold Medal, whilst the classic 10 Year Old was awarded a Gold Medal. This follows Tamdhu’s recent accolade, when Tamdhu Batch Strength was announced as Speyside Single Malt of the Year at the Whisky Advocate Awards earlier this year.
The revered competition, which is in its 16th year, took place over three days between 17 and 20 March in downtown San Francisco. The competition saw over 1700 spirits from all over the world being blind tasted by a panel of experts with the finest palates in the industry.
Commenting on the awards, Neil Boyd, Commercial Director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “Winning such fantastic awards for both Tamdhu 10 Year Old and Batch Strength greatly reinforces the quality of our sherry cask matured whisky.
“We always strive to ensure that every drop of Tamdhu is as magnificent as our founders intended and this most recent win once again shows that we are honoring their efforts.”
Tamdhu is owned by one of Scotland’s leading, independent family-owned distillers, Ian Macleod Distillers. Tamdhu was born on the banks of the River Spey in 1897. Its quality is defined by the hint of peat in its malted barley, the natural Speyside water that is drawn directly from the Tamdhu spring and the exclusive use of the finest sherry oak casks.
