The character of Batroun Mountain wine is cultivated by the thoughtfulness of each element of its creation. Batroun Mountains is a family owned and operated winery, dedicated to crafting wines that reflect the values of the Hark family. The vineyards are located in the mountains of Batroun District in six different towns on altitudes from 400 to 1500 meters above sea level. Batroun, a coastal city, is fifty kilometers north of Beirut. Growing grapes in the mountains is challenging due to the rocky nature of the fields, and labor intensive mainly because grapes are grown on narrow terraced vineyards. Terraces need continuous maintenance and repairs, and maneuverability of equipment like tractor and shredder are limited. Vines struggle in this dry, well-drained stony soil, producing superior quality grapes of well-concentrated juice with intense flavor and color. This struggle is what makes the grapes and the wines dynamic. At Batroun Mountains, the family focuses on each step of the winemaking process, believing that a quality bottle of wine is made in the vineyard and not in the winery. The grapes in each of the six Batroun Mountains vineyards are carefully selected from the finest quality estate grown organically certified grapes, in order to guarantee the excellence of the final product.
Batroun Mountains winery is a family adventure, where each individual has a role in either the growing, producing, bottling or marketing stages of winemaking. The individual effort of each member of the family reflects their common goal of care and value in the craft.
The mountainous region of Batroun District hugs the Northwestern Coast of Lebanon and continues East into the mountains. At elevations ranging from sea level to 2000 meters, the air transitions from the salty taste of the sea to the cool and fresh crispness of the mountains. Winding roads sneak through the ridges and valleys, as if disguising secrets of the landscape from the visitors. The vineyards of Batroun Mountains line the hillside, on meticulously designed terraces to give maximum sunlight exposure to the grapes. Olive trees sway as the vines reach for support, for each other, for the sky. Each element of the landscape adds personality to the bottle of wine. When opening a bottle of Batroun Mountains wine there is the taste and smell of the mountain cool, the secrets of the hillside, the struggle of the vine, a neighboring olive branch and the faintest hint of sea below. Each bottle tells a story.
Elite
Elite is selected from our finest family reserve wines and matured for 15 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by 2 years of bottle aging. You’ll discover a powerful mouth with a dense structure supported by a good acidity, and a clean nose of black fruits, blackberries, strawberry jam, vanilla and cacao.

Prestige Rouge
Intense red color, nose of ripe Merlot, overtone of prune, blackberry jam, and cherry in brandy, combined with lovely aromas from the barrel aging such as coffee liqueur, licorice, and mocha. In the mouth, a clean burst followed by an elegant roundness of concentrated velvety tannins. Pleasant finish with fresh acidity and a hint of precious wood increases while the wine breathes in your glass.

Pays Des Patriarches
Intense red color with a ruby tint. Nose of red fruits and overtone of strawberry jam, clove and white pepper. In the mouth, clean attack followed by dense and round velvety tannins. A complex, powerful and elegant wine.

Syrah
Very deep and intense dark color with deep purple tint, typical from a ripe Syrah. Complex aromas of blackberry, spices, tobacco, caramel and smoked meat. In the mouth, a great structure and intense favors of black fruits, white pepper with a pleasant acidity, powerful, a precise refection of a great terroir.

Ruby
Deep brilliant red color with a purple ring. Nose of complex aromas of fruits including blackcurrant and wild strawberries and a hint of coffee and toasted almonds. In the mouth, clean, round and a pleasant fruit concentration with a velvety finish, round and pleasant tannins.

Riesling
The nose demonstrates a complex combination of white flowers and yellow fruits like pear and peach with herbaceous notes and white pepper. In the mouth, intense exotic fruits and great minerality with freshness and length brought by the acidity. This Riesling will slowly gain complexity with aging in minerality and spices.

Chardonnay
This Chardonnay contains a powerful and expressive nose of dried peach and apricot, butter, bread toast, and magnolia. It maintains excellent body with mineral freshness and robust flavors emerging across the palate. And evolves ‘sur une plus grande amplitude’ with aeration, gaining tropical fruits and mineral notes from the terroir with a stunning intensity and aromatic persistency.
