Kilchoman Loch Gorm 5th Edition Is Finally Here!

Kilchoman Loch Gorm 46% ABV SHERRY CASK MATURED This year’s Kilchoman’s Loch Gorm Single Malt Whisky is finally available in the US. Only a limited quantity of the exclusive bottling will be available and, if past releases are anything to go by, it will sell quickly. Loch Gorm, located to the north of the distillery is very peaty in colour, similar to the dark rich colour of our sherry cask matured single malts. This, the 5th installment of the Loch Gorm range has been matured for over six years in Oloroso sherry butts. Named after a famously peaty loch, from which Kilchoman draws water for the production of this and other releases, Loch Gorm is bottled at 46% ABV and is available in the US exclusively through ImpEx Beverages Inc, with a recommended retail price of $99.99. “Loch Gorm’s rich, spicy character sets it apart in the Kilchoman range” Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder & MD Worthy of note, the Robb Report magazine just included Loch Gorm in a list with the most heavily peated Scotches in the world. See post here. Tasting Notes Nose: Spicy and sweet with peat smoke and dark chocolate well integrated. Palate: Soft fruits, well rounded and full of character. Finish: Lingering, sweet and well balanced. Notes: Kilchoman Distillery is a small family run farm distillery based on the rugged west coast of Islay. Tamdhu & Isle of Skye celebrate multiple awards win at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016

Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is toasting a double award win at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of the industry’s most prestigious spirits competitions. Tamdhu Batch Strength, the most recent expression released by Tamdhu Distillery, scooped a Double Gold Medal, whilst the classic 10 Year Old was awarded a Gold Medal. This follows Tamdhu’s recent accolade, when Tamdhu Batch Strength was announced as Speyside Single Malt of the Year at the Whisky Advocate Awards earlier this year. The revered competition, which is in its 16th year, took place over three days between 17 and 20 March in downtown San Francisco. The competition saw over 1700 spirits from all over the world being blind tasted by a panel of experts with the finest palates in the industry. Commenting on the awards, Neil Boyd, Commercial Director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “Winning such fantastic awards for both Tamdhu 10 Year Old and Batch Strength greatly reinforces the quality of our sherry cask matured whisky. “We always strive to ensure that every drop of Tamdhu is as magnificent as our founders intended and this most recent win once again shows that we are honoring their efforts.” Tamdhu is owned by one of Scotland’s leading, independent family-owned distillers, Ian Macleod Distillers. Tamdhu was born on the banks of the River Spey in 1897. Its quality is defined by the hint of peat in its malted barley, the natural Speyside water that is drawn directly from the Tamdhu spring and the exclusive use of the finest sherry oak casks. Tamdhu is imported by ImpEx Beverages Inc,... read more

Read the full article here Need to pick a dram for ‪BurnsNight‬? Forbes Magazine’s Nick on Wine recommends The Exclusive Malts Deanston 1997 for the celebratory’s night supper and we stand behind it! Deanston 1997, The Exclusive Malts Highland, $145 The initial sweet toffee creaminess soon gives way to a typical fiery Highland finish. Despite this, though, it’s a refined and feminine whisky that I can’t wait to try with smoked Scottish salmon.   Read the full article... read more

Featured on Forbes: Arran 14yo & Exclusive Malts Allt-a-Bhainne 22

“Best Expensive Scotch Whisky You’ve Never Heard Of With its creamy, aristocratic polish and haughty demeanor this is Speyside whisky at its show-offy best. Lighter and more elegant than many of its neighbors it’s easy to see why it’s so prized by Pernod-Ricard’s Chivas Brothers as a key ingredient in their Chivas Regal, and why it so rarely allowed out on its own.” Read... read more

Kilchoman to auction first ever 10 year old for Charity

Between the 7th and 14th of December Kilchoman, Islay’s farm distillery, will auction their first ever 10 year old whisky in aid of The Beatson Cancer Charity. Just one bottle from the first cask will be bottled and sold via an online auction with all the proceeds from the sale being donated to charity. Established in 2005, Kilchoman was the first distillery to be built on the famous whisky-making Island of Islay in over 124 years. Kilchoman is the only distillery in Scotland to produce whisky from barley grown and malted on-site. The distillery has been releasing whisky since 2009 however it is yet to reach the landmark 10 years of age. The one-off bottle will be hand bottled by Kilchoman Founder, Anthony Wills directly from Cask No1, filled on the 14th of December 2005. Limited stocks mean that Kilchoman will not release more ten year old whisky for some years however the recent illness of Distillery Manager, John MacLellan and a desire to celebrate the milestone sparked distillery Founder Anthony Wills into planning the unique bottling. Anthony Wills Kilchoman Founder and Managing Director “While our neighbouring distilleries have been celebrating far longer periods in the industry we wanted to acknowledge 10 years of Kilchoman and also raise some money for a very worthy cause which has become close to the whole Kilchoman team”. John MacLellan, Kilchoman Distillery Manager “The work carried out by The Beatson Cancer Charity is exemplary in all aspects of research, treatment and after care”. The online auction will be hosted on the distillery’s website www.kilchomandistillery.com and is scheduled run from 12 noon on the 7th to 12 noon on the... read more
